Green Roofs Provide Many Benefits as Cities Densify
As U.S. cities grow in population, increasing their density provides opportunities for more housing, jobs, recreation, and infrastructural efficiency. When developed thoughtfully, urban density can also decrease carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions through such reductions in car use and an increase in smaller, less energy-intensive homes. For example, Seattle’s
