Join Us October 11th for Bellevue City Council Mobility Forum

Join The Urbanist and a group of co-hosts for a panel with all Bellevue City Council candidates on October 11, where we’ll be focusing on the topics of transportation and equity. Recent news out of Bellevue sees both urbanist wins and letdowns, and this panel is a good chance to hear which candidates intend to advance the policies that urbanists want to see. 

October 11th Bellevue City Council Candidate Panel

  • What: Come see Bellevue City Council candidates answer questions about the future of the city on topics like housing, transportation, and equity on October 11th! Panelists will be split up into 30 minute chunks separated by which position they are running for.
  • Who: This panel is being co-hosted by Complete Streets Bellevue, The Urbanist, Eastside for All, Transportation Choices Coalition, Africans on the Eastside, Eastside Urbanism, and Cascade Bicycle Club.
  • Where: First Congregation Church, 11061 NE 2nd St, Bellevue, WA 98004
  • When: 3 PM to 5 PM Saturday, October 11th
  • Transit Stops: 2 Line (East Main Station) Routes 550 and 556.

There are five positions with competitive races this year: Council positions 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Panelists will be broken down by race, as follows.

This panel is being hosted not only by The Urbanist, but a coalition of organizations including Complete Streets Bellevue, Eastside for All, Transportation Choices Coalition, Africans on the Eastside, Eastside Urbanism, Futurewise, the Housing Development Consortium, Eastrail Partners, 350 Eastside, and Cascade Bicycle Club.

While this panel will focus on transportation, another Bellevue candidate panel on October 13th hosted by the Housing Development Consortium will focus on housing issues.

Bellevue Council Approves Scaled-Back Middle Housing Code
A narrow four-member majority caved to housing opponents as the Bellevue City Council finalized zoning changes impacting the city’s lower density residential areas. Scaling back an ambitious proposal that increased flexibility for builders, Bellevue is only set to exceed the state minimum in a few areas.
