This is The Urbanist’s first crack at summarizing open public comment period. Each week we’ll provide a list of ongoing policy that is open to public comment and your job is to click through each one and tell the city what you want. If we’ve missed any, please let us know in the comments by leaving a link and date the comment period closes.
- MHA DEIS: The public comment period for the Mandatory Housing Affordability upzones was extended through August 7th. The Urbanist has written extensively about this process. You can read about the current DEIS here or about inclusionary zoning more generally here.
- Safety upgrade to 15th Ave S and S Columbia Way: We covered this project last week and the recommended changes need your support. We’re not sure why the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is asking the public how to design safe bike lanes.
- PSRC Transportation 2040 survey: This survey will help guide the long-term transportation planning in the Puget Sound Region.
- Sound Transit’s Bike Parking Survey: This will help guide Sound Transit to provide better bicycle access at their facilities.
- Expansion of the Columbia City RPZ: You can comment on the proposal by emailing SDOT. We covered this project at The Urbanist here. You can read more about it on the City’s website here.
- SW Admiral Way curb bulb improvements. You can read more about the project at that link as well.
- Proposed increase in state ferry fares: Plans include a significant fare increase for walk-on passengers and charging bicycles with trailers the same rate as motorcycles/drivers. You can read more about this proposal here.
- Greenwood Senior Center transfer of ownership: The City is planning to transfer ownership of the property to the long term tenant, the Phinney Neighborhood Association (PNA). The transfer would include a requirement that the PNA operate the senior center for at least 15 years. You can read more here.
